Maiden Voyage - New "Freedom"
Lake Livingston was the plan for our first trip in the new Freedom!
Although this RV is not officially named Freedom, to Tommy it is still his Freedom. So, the name will stay the same!
Through some searching I found a small RV park that sat right on the lake. We had a large pull through spot in close vicinity to the water. Other than a few outings and a couple of good restaurants we basically just relaxed for the first time in a while. Grieving the loss of loved ones and making sure all the paperwork is processed at the end of their life really takes a toll on you. It takes many months to feel confident that everything was handled properly and even then, you still wonder…
A Cool Dip –
There is nothing more refreshing than a nice cool swim in the summertime. It must have been nothing short of biblical because the Vige’ family said that Easter marked the last cold snap and we did not or could not swim before this day!! Whether you want to call it an old wife’s tale or just the commandments of my great grandmother it was a followed rule! LOL
I will say, I was a pretty healthy child!
This vacation just happens to be Easter and the pool was gorgeous, but as I have gotten older the desire to jump in a pool or any cold water is no longer exciting! Tommy on the other hand doesn’t really care what the season is, he just loves to swim! It didn’t take him long to be numb and enjoy himself tremendously!
Surprising Friends and of course some racing -
Yes, We are out of town
Yes, we are on a vacation adventure
BUT does that stop an addiction? The answer is no! LOL
Evidently Livingston; just like all cities in Texas, is “semi-adjacent” to a race track. LOL And naturally at this race track are some of our friends putting on a good show… I think Heath was enchanted that I mentioned us going to surprise them! So there was no backing out now!! LOL
We stopped and found Tommy some ear muffs just in case and headed out. Tommy was thrilled to know that he was once again going to get to support “his favorite drivers” but he did not know that there would be a fire work show afterwards. Of course this was just for his enjoyment!!
We had a great time and the drive was only about 30 minutes so we got back to the RV at a decent time and still had another couple of days to relax and enjoy.
From a park review perspective, the grounds were nice! There were several permanent residents of the park to offer a smile and casual conversations. Amenities included a boat dock and a swim lake area. At one time this was probably a great area. They brought in sand for a beach feel and added umbrellas, tables and chairs. You can’t tell from my photo, but there was a lot of debris and trash at the waters edge. Sadly, we did not explore the water in that area. The pool as I mentioned was gorgeous and a large splash pad was adjacent to the pool which Tommy enjoyed!
To sum up this trip, I would say it was perfect for the rest and get away that Heath and I needed!
As i am posting today, June 21st the day summer officially begins… It is hot, stay hydrated and enjoy the shade where possible. Make memories and enjoy your adventures. Until next week,
- God Bless
