Blessing Box!
As we are approaching this “Thankful Season” We sometimes forget or take for granted the opportunity’s that we are given and granted by God to help and share with others. As Christians, God asks of us to Go and Tell others about Him. It doesn’t matter where they are or what they have done, nor what their possessions are. Suits and ties are not requirements to be Christians nor enter a church house. Come as you are!
I am so proud to be a part of an outreach that our church does for the community. This year, 2024 will be the 3rd annual “Operation Blessing Box” giveaway! We offer the community the opportunity to drive through the parking lot and receive a box of ingredients to make a Thanksgiving meal for their family. As we welcome the families, we are able to minister and pray with them as they are in line. Our “praise team” is also set up in the parking lot to share Gods love through music as they wait!
The first year was extremely special as it was our pilot run. Tommy, with his love of drumming stayed in close vicinity to the musicians and followed the drumming motions along with our drummer. This is where Heath and I learned of his interest in drumming.
For Tommy, he is just playing his air drums. But he is a part of the event. Many people commented as they drove through how they loved seeing him enjoy himself!
It was amazing to see the response of the community. We structured the parking lot to be able to hold most of the vehicles to keep them off the street and not cause a traffic jam, but this last year the parking lot was full, and cars were still coming in from a side street. We gave 250 boxed meals in 2022 and 500 meals in 2023. We are thankful for this mission bestowed upon us and the ability to bring happiness and spread God’s love to our community.
We are looking forward to this event again this year. Tommy loves to put on his church t-shirt and join in!
If you know someone in need of a Thanksgiving meal, please tell them to come by Victory Temple on November 17th @3pm.
Thank you for following along and if you do stop by look for Tommy! He will love to say hello and wave!
