Shopping Directions, New Favorite Store

Two weeks prior to this particular shopping trip, Tommy and I had visited Michael’s.  I don’t remember why we were there but of course he found the aisle that was covered with plastic animals (which he loves!)  He took his time looking over every animal on the aisle.  I did not think much about it and after much deliberation he was satisfied with an orka whale, bet you cant guess his name!

In the coming weeks Tommy found a new video on YouTube (which is another story in itself as to how he finds these!)  This video had a whale in it, but it was a humpback whale.  If he was watching it, he was showing it to me.  Steadily repeating “whale” – like he was reminding me about it.

So here is the proof that some people truly have the memory of an elephant…  On this shopping day, I was in search of a rug.  Thought I would try some stores that I had not been in lately for better selections as Tommy was still steadily reminding me about his whale!!  There were a few toy aisles in some of these stores that we would venture down, but never finding a whale.  His normal stores are the Family Dollar, or Dollar General or Walmart of course and we are at these all the time, I knew they did not have a whale…  I was driving around the mall area, needed to pick up something from Ulta when Tommy got excited.  He saw Michael’s across the street.  He began to try and express to me that this was the place.  “Whale, red store.”   I followed his direction to the store, parked and we went in.  This child amazes me…  he went to the animal aisle where he remembered from two week prior that there was a humpback whale there that was identical to the one in his new video. 

Today, I experienced Tommy on his own little adventure.  I am so thankful that God lets me see his remarkable brain of his in action.  I am also very lucky that He gives me some insight and ability to try and understand & keep up with this boy!  Special moments with our special children.
