Spring Break - perfect trip…

We had found the perfect destination for our spring break trip! Cajun Palms RV Park, Henderson, Louisiana. We have several friends that had told us about the park, then we also learned that there was a Prehistoric Park just around the corner and is there anything more important to Tommy than dinosaurs??? Absolutely not!

Those of you that have followed along, know that Tommy is most productive in life if he knows whats coming next and pretty much lives by a weekly calendar and also a separate monthly calendar. While watching our “Freedom the Dinosaur” trip as he called it was approaching, his anticipation was undeniable.

As we prepared for spring break, the world prepared for COVID-19. We were soon having to see about postponing our trip. But when? Not really knowing how to explain to Tommy that we would not be going, I was really at a loss. I took him to his calendar and began to scratch off the trip and it just came to mind that “the world” is sick, so why cant “the dinosaurs” be sick? He understood completely! So for the next weeks, all we heard from Tommy was this same question! Want to guess?! LOL Yes, it was…”Dinosaurs sick?” We would always assure him that they were and we could see them when they got better! I began watching the park website for when things may open. After he had waited long enough, he changed from a question to a statement… “Freedom the Dinosaur, time to go!” LOL

We thought possibly Easter, but as it approached, we knew that would not be possible, but fast-forward to May and we were Louisiana bound!

New Experiences

When we get the opportunity to go back to Cajun Palms we will definitely try and book one of the spots around the ponds. We were in spot # 156 and loved it. We could see all the excitement across the pond where events would happen, but we also enjoyed the breeze and a little larger grass spot and shade tree.

There is a movie theater, where they play movies at least once a day. We saw the Lion King and ended up being the only ones in the theater that night so Tommy could sing all the songs and tell us what was going to happen next and not have to worry about bothering anyone!

This resort is large and beautiful, but to see it all I recommend having or renting a golf cart. They do have parking spaces available as well, but the golf cart made for easy access and just a little something extra! We arrived on a Wednesday, and it was perfect! Not many campers had arrived yet, it was quite and relaxing. We quickly gained some new friends - the kind that “quack”!! When chef Heath was cooking they came for their portion. I am quite certain that they are still missing us!! LOL Tommy would feed them and enjoyed that, but then he would “shew” them away shortly after that!

Tommy also got to fish in the pond. He actually caught his first fish! I have that video posted on FB - its’s priceless! It took him a full day before he would touch a fish, but he eventually did.

The swimming area is very impressive. Not only are there several pools, they are age appropriate starting with a large wading pool with dumping buckets and waterfalls, to 3 foot pool up to adult only areas!

Visiting here does not disappoint! Not only does the RV park have all the amenities that you could hope for, they also own these attractions just a golf cart ride away. The three in one combination makes fun for all ages!

The Cajun fast track, looks great too. We only got to walk through and enjoyed a milkshake and french fries due to continued COVID restrictions, they have alot of indoor entertainment to offer, not to mention the food was great!

Don’t forget to find @tommyadventures on Facebook to see videos of the trip!

God Bless -
