"Christmas, December Twenty-Five!"
In our house some of us don’t just plan ahead, we plan year round! What do we plan for you ask?
Lights, Trees, Snowmen; whatever the decoration, Tommy is daily planning for Christmas! No matter what time of the year it is, Christmas is always just round the corner.
Once he figures out “exactly” what his Christmas wishes are… you know by January 31st, like everyone else right! He begins to express to all he encounters, “Christmas, December Twenty-Five!” And you better acknowledge and agree with him. If you don’t, you will hear it again until you do!!
Tommy’s request/wishes are very specific. He will normally show me a picture. If he tells me it comes in a box, it is a specific box he is looking for! There is a certain color, shape, everything.
By February, I am looking for anything to deter him or get his mind on something else to help my sanity! I have already marked Christmas Day on the calendar. He knows that it is several “pages” / months away but he reminds us several times every day. Maybe He just thinks we are not smart enough to retain this information! LOL
Lose Out?
There is something very unique about this though… When Tommy gets in trouble or acts out in a not so nice way, he will immediately feel remorse. He will lean over and whisper to me his Christmas wishes along with “Christmas, December Twenty-Five?” He is making sure that what just happened did not make him lose out on his request! Tell me this kid is not smart.
Through the past blogs you may remember a few of these items.
2019 it was El Matador and Bulldozer. This was from a 2012 Disney short film. He has watched Lightening McQueen forever and of course Mater was the star in these “shorts”. I was able to find on EBay! It was kind of like jewelry. Expensive things in small boxes!! LOL
This is the same year that he had written ROBOT on the shopping list. The robot he wanted was from the animated series “Word World” Education spelling type video and of course they don’t have a toy line… My saving grace was that I located a robot that at least talked like the one on the video.
2020 was the “skull crawler” This was from a 2017 King Kong movie that he found and watched clips of on YouTube! You have read how that blessing came about!
This year is similar. I am not going to give the surprise away by telling you the exact items, but one is from a 2004 movie (which I have already found and purchased!) Go Me! And the other is from a movie series that dates back to 1968! Help me…. Let’s just say I am watching the items on EBay! LOL
In all reality, we know that we have a long time to endure this until Christmas, but we also know that “Baby Reagan” is due any day now.
Tommy is as ready as Kahlyn is I believe. He gets right up next to her belly and talks to him.
“Hello!”
“Baby Reagan,”
“Where are you?”
Then he will place his ear on her belly expecting him to answer! There is no doubt that little Reagan will know his Uncle Tommy’s voice. I am so excited to see the plans God has in store for these two!
