Ring Guard Duties!

Ring Guard Duties!

The wedding time had arrived, and the anticipation of the ring guard duties were here!

Like all of our adventures, we start with a location for “The Freedom”. This time we chose Rayford Crossing RV Resort in Spring, Texas. Little did we know the venue was within 10 minutes of us. Worked out perfectly.

The resort was beautiful and quiet considering how close to the interstate it was. They offer a lot of amenities. We enjoyed the swimming pool both before and after the wedding. They also had tiny homes/cabins available to rent. Our children stayed in one close to us as baby Reagan was also in the wedding party! They had one minor a/c issue in the cabin, but the park offered another cabin for them until they got the air condition fixed in theirs! Everything about Rayford Crossing was top notch. We would definitely stay there again for the weekend or just passing through. It was easy for us to maneuver our fifth-wheel in and out of the park.

Since Reagan was so small and we were unsure how Tommy would do or understand, the boys were not required to attend rehersal. We decided to take a family day trip to the Houston Zoo.

It was a warm May Day, and we knew the pool would be calling our name upon returning to the park. Some of the animals were not feeling the heat of the day either. They were napping in the shade trying to stay cool. The highlight for Tommy as always were the penguins. I have written of his love for penguins in the past and this time it was no different. I think he could sit and watch them for hours if given the opportunity! Although none of them sang or danced, Tommy still called them “happy feet.”

Unlucky for us, the gift shop was closed by the time we found our way to the exit, and he expressed his anger towards the door. Thankfully, I was able to redirect him quickly to avoid a meltdown. We found a place to eat not too far from the zoo where some French fries turned his frown upside down!! LOL

The Main Event

Although Tommy’s understanding of his job in the ring guard was minimal, he did know that he had a part in something big! As we made our way to the wedding chapel, the wedding coordinator explained what we needed to do, where to be and who to follow. There was a cry room at the entrance of the chapel with a large window, so while everyone was getting lined up, I tried to give Tommy some “pointing” directions. I explained that he would walk down and when he got to the front he needed to turn to the left and come and sit down by us… He instantly began to explain back to me that he would be standing by the bridesmaids up front… I firmly; with a smile, told him… NO YOU WILL NOT… You will get to the front and come and sit by me! Now, you have come to understand as I have that, I really did not have any control once he headed down the aisle exactly what the outcome would be. I figured I would have to go and get him from the girls… But to my surprise, he walked in and turned to the left and took his seat…

But WAIT…

As I also headed towards my seat I started to hear commotion, then a chuckle or two and finally laughter… I had NO IDEA what was funny…

Fear rose up inside of me, hoping that he didn’t do something that would totally embarrass us all! This sharp dressed man, STRUTTED down the aisle, throwing a kiss and a wink like he was just voted “man of the year!”

Enjoy!

THAT WINK!!!

The wedding photographer captured this!

The bride made her entrance, she was beautiful, and everyone’s attention was re-focused to complete this happy ceremony.

Following a wonderful wedding was a wonderful reception. To say Tommy loves to dance is an understatement. Even standing at the table he can’t help but move to the beat. Generally embarrassing his dad along the way!!

Heath says, "He is your child!!" Which turns out to be a very true statement when it comes to dancing!

As the food, cake, punch and dancing came to an end, Tommy was getting a little ancy. I watched the happy couple make their exit but could not get Tommy to stay around. He waived good-bye from the comfort of the airconditioned truck!! LOL

Enjoy a couple of final pictures!! Dancing with the bride and enjoying time with family!
