"Skull Crawler"
For Tommy, Christmas did not disappoint. He had some very special people be Secret Santa’s to him this year. Just as God gave us the greatest gift of Jesus’ birth which is what Christmas is about, the love shown towards our son clearly displays the true joy of giving. They only wanted Tommy to have something he was excited about and really wanted!
This child watches older movies and finds video clips on YouTube of people playing with the characters. In this case the character was a lizard creature referred to as a “skull crawler”. This character is from King Kong Skull Island. Most of these toys are considered collectors items and they are hard to find. When you do locate them they can be quite expensive.
Tommy will never understand the generosity of these Secret Santa’s but Heath and I will forever remember their thoughtfulness.
As Tommy is exposed to more people, places and things, he is developing the most unique personality. Although his communication is still far from what we would desire; his excitement and feelings are contagious to all that come in contact with him.
Return to School - 2nd six weeks…
Tommy did return to school for the second six weeks of the 20-21 year. He seems to be enjoying the teacher and paraprofessionals in his classroom. And they definitely love him! He is excited seeing them in the mornings when I drop him off. Teasing them, locking the door so they can’t get to him! Just playful interaction. His class made a music video with the Drama department. I can tell that High-school will be great experience for him. And he needs that! He has done fine with the corona-virus restrictions. Mask wearing and hand sanitizing seems to just be part of his routine. He even sported his “santa mask” for school and he was a hit!
Hopefully you are having good school experiences this year as well. I would have never imagined living in this great country under the current conditions and restrictions that we have. I pray that you all use your best judgement to keep your families healthy. For those that may have lost someone recently. My deepest condolences. I have had a dear friend of mine lose both her parents recently. Not due to Covid-19, but because of the virus I was not able to pay my respects at their visitations and funerals. I know they are in a better place now and they are together in the presence of the Lord and that brings much peace.
As I conclude this blog, I leave you with a few highlight photos of Tommy. Doing his thing, his way.
Enjoy and God Bless -
