How It All Began!

How It All Began!

A Beautiful Wedding

When planning our daughter’s wedding; which was outdoors and beautiful!  We asked our dear friends to borrow their RV.  It started out as a need to have a place for the cakes to be in the air condition until time for the reception.  What we didn’t realize, was the blessing that this would be for Tommy.  It created an escape for him when the crowds and schedules got to be too much for him.  He did great at the wedding and then was able to take a break and chill out during the reception.  So thank you to Mark and Michelle of www.harrismufflerandbrake.com  for their friendship and generosity.

With this experience and Tommy’s love for the RV, we thought what a wonderful future this could be for our family.  Thinking ahead to our retirement and fun things we could do with Tommy as he grows older.  What could we incorporate in our lives that would be beneficial?   He will continue to need teaching / education.  He needs life skills.  And he really needs to get unplugged and out of his room.

Our Inspiration –

Heath and I didn’t really know a lot about this adventure that we were embarking on.  Types of trailers, towing, traveling, acceptance in places with a special needs son…  We just dove into the internet.  Searching for what was available and what we may like as our conveniences in the trailer.  It is funny how inspiration can come from anywhere.  People that you don’t know living their own adventures can inspire you.  We found on YouTube a couple, Marc and Tricia of http://www.KeepYourDaydream.com that had been traveling with their family full time for a while and they showed real life and almost “how to” clips that they had learned along the way and we were “hooked”!  Heath and I binged watched their seasons to catch up to their current episodes.  We could relate to them.  We are “newbies” and they once were and the knowledge we gained, they will never know how much it is appreciated.

We had some ideas of our needs and desires for the trailer, but we learned from them that there is no perfect trailer.  We just wanted to meet our current needs and begin our adventures!  We set out to purchase a Coachman Freedom Express Select 29SE from www.gthomes.com .  Of all the trailers we looked at and walked through, this was also Tommy’s favorite.  He began reading the Name of the Rig from the brochure and saying it several times a day, almost every day.  Seemingly reminding us about it!!  He was even picking out the exact floor plan that we liked from the dealership.  What an amazing boy!  Today the rig made it to its new home and we are blessed and excited.  Stay with us for adventures to come
